Description of Practice

The Denver Mediation Group is a client-focused firm committed to helping those in conflict resolve their differences involving divorce, family issues, workplace disputes and school-related matters. We are unique in that we provide a two-person, gender balanced team for every mediation we schedule. We aim to empower parties to find creative solutions, thereby enabling them to move forward with their lives. We believe that gentleness and compassion can only come from strength and we endeavor to provide a safe, friendly environment to resolve even the most difficult disputes.

Professional Background

Dan has been able to develop his skills through a unique set of experiences that include educator, school counselor, group facilitator and college instructor. Dan has worked as a teacher and school counselor for the past 31 years. He has taught graduate level counseling classes at the University of Phoenix and the University of Colorado. He has also been a trainer for challenge course facilitators and climbing wall instructors. The book he co-authored, Initiatives, Games and Activities, is widely used in Adventure Education and Adventure Therapy programs. In addition to being a certified mediator, Dan is also a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC).

Experience

Dan received his initial divorce and child custody mediation training through the internationally esteemed CDR & Associates in Boulder, Colorado. He has received additional mediation training through the Colorado Bar Association. Dan has many years of experience mediating parent/child, parent/parent and community disputes. His years of working with young people have provided him with a unique insight into the needs of children during the divorce process. Dan also has a great deal of experience working on issues related to Special Education and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). In addition to being a partner with the Denver Mediation Group, Dan also is a lead mediator for the Jefferson County Mediation Services and volunteers with the Denver Court Mediation Services.

Degrees

Dan received his undergraduate degree at Minot State University (Psychology and Education). He then continued his education in the graduate program at the University of Northern Colorado, where he obtained a Master of Arts in School Counseling.
