At-Large Members duties, expectations

 

Collective Criteria:

  1. Range of experience with EPP work and EPP section
  2. Demonstration of volunteer commitment and follow-through
  3. Diversity as a group by gender, race, ethnicity, location
  4. Diversity as a group by kinds of Environment and other public policy area practice
  5. Diversity as a group of practice, teaching, research work/emphasis

Commitment:

A. General

 

  1. To be a good steward of the welfare and advancement of the EPP section and ACR
  2. To participate actively in the policy-setting and operations of the EPP section
  3. To listen to EPP section members and reflect their concerns and interests
  4. To assist in EPP operations through one or more projects a year (for at-large members)
  5. To model welcoming and inclusive values, and help involve people in the work of EPP
  6. Model reliable performance of volunteer duties
  7. Assist in developing leadership and prepare successors as committee chairs or for other EPP leadership positions

B. Specific

Participation in about 10 conference calls/year – almost monthly.

a)      about 30-45 minute advance reading of materials

b)      90-minute phone call

c)      Some times 30-60 minute fol-up on an item, about every other call

 

Facilitate and/or scribe for one call a year

a)      Advance conversation with co-chairs about materials, goals for call

b)      More detailed preparation and attention to group process and/or minutes

c)      Scribing:  prepare notes, preview with participants on the call, and make any changes to make the notes/minutes “final,” send to co-chairs for distribution to council.

 

EPP Project: time devoted to at least one project per year

a)      Time commitment hard to assess: approximately 10-30 hours across the year

b)      Could involve activity with an existing committee, but probably would be devoted to the section conference, or a separate project

 

Committee chairs/co-chairs duties, expectations

 

Commitment:

A. General

 

1.      To be a good steward of the welfare and advancement of the EPP section and ACR

2.      To listen to EPP section members and reflect their concerns and interests

3.      To model welcoming and inclusive values, and help involve people in the work of EPP

4.      Model reliable performance of volunteer duties

5.      Assist in developing leadership and prepare successors as committee chairs or for other EPP leadership positions

6.      Coordinate among committees, task forces and projects

 

B. Specific

a)      Assures that a chair/co-chair (or designee) participates in the Leadership Council conference calls

b)      Regular reports to Leadership Council

c)      Communicates with section co-chairs about setting work timeline, managing budget for conference calls, etc.

  1. Demonstrated commitment to EPP section
  2. Reliable follow-through on volunteer commitments, commitment to community of dispute resolution
  3. Some degree of diversity by kinds of Environment and other public policy area practice
  4. Skills in budgeting
  5. Visioning and leading experience, ability to identify and develop opportunities
  6. Balance of steady commitment and adjustment to variable work demands
  7. Preferred pair: mix of solo practitioner – institutional-base, and different gender, race, ethnicity, location mix 

Commitment:

A. General

 

  1. To be a good steward of the welfare and advancement of the EPP section and ACR
  2. Primary liaison to ACR
  3. Consistently seek and create opportunities for volunteer energy – strong delegation and coordination skills
  4. To listen to EPP section members and reflect their concerns and interests
  5. To assist in EPP operations through one or more projects a year (for at-large members)
  6. To model welcoming and inclusive values, and help involve people in the work of EPP
  7. Attendance at ACR Conference and EPP section conference
  8. Approximate time commitment: 3-5 hours per week on average, and periodic 5-10 hours/month spikes 

B. Specific

 

  1. Develop and manage EPP section budget
  2. Create agendas and manage leadership council
  3. Supervise work of committees, task forces, conference planning
  4. Regular communication with ACR Sections liaison and other staff
  5. Participate in ACR Section leaders conference calls
