UPCOMING TELESEMINARS
Why Has Compromise Become a Dirty Word? A Closer Look at the Value of Compromise
Please join ACR Workplace Section’s Conflict Coaching Committee on
Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. Eastern.
While compromise seems desirable to many practitioners working with people in conflict, it is much-maligned in our current political climate. A quick Google search reveals the overwhelming view that compromise is an erosion of morality, something to be avoided at all costs. In the quest for moral superiority, we seem to have lost the ability to assess the value of compromise. This provocative teleseminar will assess the pitfalls of refusing to compromise and will reveal ways to facilitate the benefits of selective give-and-take in conflict management coaching and other forum in which considering and negotiating possible outcomes occur.
Merri L. Hanson is the Director of Peninsula Mediation & ADR in Williamsburg, Virginia. Her company provides a comprehensive range of conflict resolution services for numerous federal agencies throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia. In addition, Peninsula Mediation provides services for other workplace, business, and family disputes. Merri holds certification for all levels of mediation by the Supreme Court of Virginia and she is a certified facilitator for the Conflict Dynamics Profile (Eckerd College) and the Strength Deployment Inventory. www.peninsulamediation.com
