Joy Hernandez

JH ADR Services is focused on providing collaborative and effective online mediation services for individuals and organizations looking for a solution, not just a quick fix. Joy Hernandez, owner/mediator, has a passion to help those in conflict to assess and identify options that will allow them to resolve their own disputes so they can move forward with their lives. JH ADR Services provides mediation services for divorce/family, co-parenting, landlord-tenant, small business disputes, community/neighbor, elder mediation, and HOA.

Joy has over 20 years of experience working in a handful of professional roles collaborating with multinational and regional organizations providing such services as cost/value analysis, negotiation oversight, and contractual documentation establishment for commercial, occupational, and other enterprise-related transactions. As well, Joy has assisted these organizations in the facilitation and management of the long-term professional relationships which were established as a result.

ADR Experience

Joy has been a certified mediator since 2009 in the State of California and renewed this certification in 2019. Over the last decade, Joy has volunteered most of her time with various Dispute Resolution Centers (DRC) around Southern California and other non-profits to provide mediation services at either a reduced fee or for free.

Joy earned her Master’s in Dispute Resolution in 2020. Having a goal of helping as many people as she could overcome conflict, Joy launched her own online mediation and ADR business, JH ADR Services, that same year.

In 2022, JH ADR Services relocated to Colorado continuing to provide services nationally. The following year, JH ADR Services was awarded a contract with the Colorado State Court Services, Office of Dispute Resolution as an approved court mediator for domestic/family law, small claims and eviction cases.

In 2024, Joy earned her certification as a Parenting Coordinator/Decision-Maker.

Joy has mediated over a hundred various disputes, including divorce and family law issues, community disputes, small business disputes, family conflicts, employment, and housing/eviction issues.

The one thing that Joy loves most about mediation is the control and power that it gives to the parties in determining their own outcomes. You know what is best for you. You shouldn’t have to be told by attorneys and judges what you have to live with. Mediation gives the people who are impacted the most with the decisions made, control in making those decisions.

Joy’s approach to dispute resolution is flexible based upon the needs of the parties and the type of dispute being resolved. Understanding the needs of the parties in resolving the dispute helps to identify if her role as mediator should be more facilitative or evaluative. She strives to assist the parties to be at their best so that they can effectively determine their best outcome. She encourages collaboration, focused communication and creative problem-solving so that the parties can find solutions that work for them.
