Description of Practice

MASS MEDIATORS, with locations in Worcester and Westborough, provides mediation services throughout Massachusetts, in the areas of Divorce, Family Law, Business, Commercial Transactions, Construction (commercial & residential), Employment, Workplace, and Insurance Claims. The mediators affiliated with Mass Mediators are experienced professionals, trained, and certified attorney mediators and retired Massachusetts Trial Court judges. Our goal is to assist parties in reaching a fair and early resolution without incurring extensive legal fees. We have learned, from many years of involvement with the legal system, that the courts should be the last alternative for resolution of disputes, not the first.

Professional Background

JOHN KEETON has been an attorney over 40 years and a trained mediator and collaborative attorney. JUDGE CHARLES ABDELLA severed 11 years on the Mass Trial Court, practice law for 31 years, and a National Panelist of the American Arbitration Asso. ILENE TITUS was an attorney for the Mass Commission Against Discrimination, and for the past 12 years has represented employers and employees in employment and workplace disputes. JUDGE EDWARD REYNOLDS was a justice of the Trial Court for 14 years, practiced law for over 30 years and has been an arbitrator and mediator for the Mass trial courts.

Experience

JOHN KEETON has mediated hundreds of disputes between divorcing couples, business owners, neighbors, creditor/debtor, landlord/tenant, and employment matters. JUDGE CHARLES ABDELLA has presided over hundreds of civil cases as a judge, arbitrator and mediator involving business, consumer, environmental, construction, and personal injury disputes. ILENE TITUS has extensive experience in the meditation and conciliation of employment and workplace disputes pending before administrative agencies and the courts. JUDGE EDWARD REYNOLDS, while on the bench, earned a reputation for his ability to sort out complex civil cases, and in his practice has served as a Master, Arbitrator and Guardian Ad Litem in the Worcester, Hampshire and Franklin Superior Court.

Approach

Mass Mediators establishes a cooperative and productive envoirment giving the parties an alternative to litigation. This allows the parties to meet face to face to address their positions, possible solutions, options for solutions and other underlying concerns before an experienced impartial neutral mediator. Our mediators will work with the parties to efficiently resolve their dispute or problem by addressing the options for solutions and the reaching of mutual agreement.

Fees

Customarily fees and costs of mediation are shared by the parties. Divorce & Post Divorce: No retainer fee. $300 per session(approx.11/2 hrs); $1,000 preparation of divorce agreement; $250 preparation of required court filings; $215 Court filing fee; other necessary expenses.
