Allan Revich was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He attended and graduated from Georges Vanier Secondary School, on the Don Mills “Peanut”. From there it was off to the University of Toronto, where after four years of study he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Psychology and Fine Art.
Allan has more than twenty years’ experience in the information technology field. He also worked as the Chief Grievance Officer for USW Local 1998 at the University of Toronto. He left after about five years, when he realized that the adversarial approach inherent in the grievance process was not the best way to reach mutually satisfactory agreements. He feels confident that his approach of, “pragmatism over ideology” was appreciated, because to this day, both former Human Resource officers, AND former union clients, approach him regularly to let him know that he is still missed!
Allan earned a Master’s degree in Adult Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. He also earned certificates in Solution Focused Therapy and (of course) Mediation.
As a mediator Allan has mediated many workplace disputes, as well as mediating for the Government of Ontario and private clients. He is a past director of the ADR Institute of Canada, the ADR Institute of Ontario, and currently serves on the Information Technology committees for both organizations.
