John Bosnak has been attorney in an international commercial law practice at CMS Derks Star Busmann. He served for ten years as part-time in-house counsel for a construction company. He is an experienced (international) mediator with NMI, the Nederland’s Mediation Institute since 1997, certified in 2003, presently in private practice ( www.vannieuwenhuizenpartners.nl ). He is court - annexed mediator to the Courts of Arnhem. He is on the roster of arbitrators of the regional Chamber of Commerce. He is immediate past Chairman of the CMS Practice Area Group on Dispute Resolution and immediate past President and honorary member of the Dutch Association of Attorney-Mediators. He teaches mediation advocacy to young lawyers for the Dutch Order of Advocates and students at the Radboud University of Nijmegen. He has acted as judge and mediator for the 1st - 5th ICC Commercial Mediation Moot Courts in Paris. He frequently lectures in many countries and for various international delegations and has published on different aspects of mediation. He is the Dutch mediator on the roster of Risolvi Online, the online mediation centre of the Milanese Chamber of Commerce. He is involved in the preparation for the implementation of the EU Mediation Directive in the Netherlands in a working party with the Ministry of Justice and NMI. He was member of NMI’s General Board, presently of its Advisory Board, and of the board of the Internationaal Juridisch Instituut at the Hague.
