Distress should be expected when people are in conflict, and even professional dispute resolvers can find themselves emotionally overwhelmed. This program will give you tools to ensure you are ready for all kinds of challenging behavior and situations, and you have everything you need to respond to them effectively and impartially, while managing your own self-care needs and ensuring you do not write anyone off. We will understand different kinds of distress, learn bias-resistant ways to plan to respond to challenging behaviors, explore techniques for overcoming avoidance to promote engagement, and pay attention to our own self-care needs so we are ready to do our best even on the toughest days.
