The Columbia University Justice Lab in the College of Arts and Sciences is recruiting a Project Coordinator for its Square One Project.
The Square One Project is a research and outreach project that grapples with fundamental issues including poverty and racial inequality, violence and safety, criminalization and punishment. The central question that guides Square One is, if we started from scratch, from “square one,” how would we design justice policy differently? To answer this question, Square One incubates new thinking on the United States’ response to violence and crime through a variety of activities, including the preparation of research articles and a series of convenings with researchers, advocates and criminal justice practitioners.
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for expanding and supporting the ongoing outreach and engagement efforts of the Square One Project regarding its Collaborative on Reckoning and Justice, and will support outreach and engagement efforts related to activities of Collaborative participants and partners around the country. The Project Coordinator will participate in project progress meetings with the Principal Investigator (Justice Lab Co-Director Bruce Western), Square One Executive Director (Katharine Huffman), direct supervisor (Director of the Collaborative on Reckoning and Justice Sukyi McMahon), and other project staff.
