Approach

Allen helps parties identify and articulate issues in controversy, recognize where there interests may be compatible, and identify opportunities for mutual gain. He does this by bringing to each mediation:

  • an in-depth understanding of the interests of the parties to a commercial transaction. He sees all sides of a dispute and understands the needs and motivations of all parties;
  •  an innate ability to find solutions to issues and problems. A key to Allen’s success as a commercial transactions lawyer for more than 30 years, has been his ability to help the parties find solutions to issues and problems that worked for both parties;
  • an in-depth knowledge of the contracts under which disputes arise, the provisions and issues giving rise to disputes, and the range of resolutions of such disputes. Allen has negotiated hundreds of commercial arrangements including billions of dollars of technology agreements;
  • a broad and deep understanding of commercial practice, domestically and internationally. Allen has assisted clients with transactions throughout the United States as well as in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, India, and South Africa;
