As a mediator, I am committed to assisting parties to resolve disputes with a mutually beneficial outcome. I practice and teach mediation based on the facilitative and transformative processes. I have been a mediator since 1993 and have conducted over 1100 mediations dealing with Divorce, Child Custody & Parenting Plans, Child Support, Business Contracts, Family, Employment, Construction, Landlord & Tenant, Tribal, Neighborhoods and Local Government & Federal Agencies.

I am focused on helping clients clarify their disputes, communicate clearly, determine their needs and interests, consider options for settlement, and reach fair agreements. I believe mediation provides an alternative to the win-lose approach of the adversarial legal system. It is practical, informed, highly focused on the issues to be resolved, and involves mutual problem-solving.

ADR Experience

I have been a mediator since 1993. My first informal training began with Owyhee Initiative, The Owyhee Initiative is a consensus agreement reached by a number of national, regional, and local stakeholders to promote the ecological and economic health in southwest Idaho. The agreement was built by local ranchers, county representatives, conservationists, outfitters, the Shoshone-Paiute Tribe and others to address longstanding disagreement about managing public lands. After the agreement, I moved onto mediating Local Governments with Federal Agencies. Both the OI and mediating the local governments with Federal Agencies were both challenging and rewarding,

I decided to change things up in 2011, stayed more local in the Idaho area and began Family & Civil mediations that has successfully grown my business to where it is today. Now that my local firm is thriving and doing well, I am looking forward to the online challenges and mediation possibilities for all over the country and possibly beyond the states.


My approach to mediation is accepting that there are no “winners” in disagreements. My goal is to gain a better understanding of where parties are and what they need to be whole again. If they are interested in a problem solving approach that is focused on outcome, I will assist them in moving toward settlement as quickly as possible. When relationships will continue past the mediation, a transformative approach is more beneficial to help parties now and possibly in the future.

I have found that communication is the key in nearly all of my cases, I like to leave my clients with a few tools for communication to hopefully avoid future issues in the transformative resolutions.
