Description of Practice

As founder of Weber Dispute Resolution, Shawn Weber understands the human side of family law. His gifts as a peacemaker move people through emotional turmoil to successful negotiations. Shawn began mediating as a law student and is specifically trained in Divorce Mediation and Collaborative Practice. Certified as a Legal Specialist in Family Law by the, California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization, Shawn has built his reputation as a skilled mediator and negotiator.

Shawn’s efforts in dispute resolution are recognized throughout California. He served as President of Collaborative Practice California (CP Cal) from 2015 to 2016. He received the prestigious Eureka Award in 2015 for making “significant contributions and demonstrat[ing] an abiding dedication to establishing and sustaining Collaborative Practice in California.” Shawn regularly serves as a Judge Pro Tem with the Settlement Conference panel for the Superior Court.

Shawn contributes to the Mediation and Collaborative Practice fields through speaking and training. As co-founder of Family Resolution Institute, Shawn provides basic and advanced training to mediators from around the country and has provided divorce mediation training to Marine Corp JAGs for the past 2 years.

Professional Background

Mr. Weber began his family law career in 1999 as a law clerk with the Law Office of Georgine Brave. He began mediating even while still in law school. While still maintaining a litigation practice, Mr. Weber's primary focus is on alternate dispute resolution. He became a managing partner and CFO of Brave, Weber & Mack, APLC in 2006, where he provided a personal touch in every mediation and collaborative case. He has developed a reputation as a compassionate and professional practitioner who seeks to serve the family's best interest through creative solutions.

In 2016, Mr. Weber launched Weber Dispute Resolution where he provides family law, mediation and collaborative divorce services. He is a co-founder of Family Resolution Institute were brings his strong experience and background as a mediator to others through Family Law Mediation Trainings.

Mr. Weber served on the Board of Directors of the Collaborative Family Law Group of San Diego from 2005 to 2010 and as its President in 2009. He served on the Board of Directors of Collaborative Practice California from 2013 to 2018 and its President from 2015 to 2016.


Mr. Weber has been divorce mediator since 2001. He has been a trained collaborative divorce practitioner since 2005. He has served on the San Diego Superior Court Mandatory Settlement Conference Panel as a Pro Tem Judge since 2012. He was President of Collaborative Practice California (CP Cal) from 2015-2016. He is a co-founder and mediation trainer at Family Resolution Institue.

Shawn’s not your everyday family law professional, because for him your divorce is a human experience, not just a legal process. He has a profound ability to get into the world you are experiencing and feeling to uncover the necessary clarity in each divorce relationship dynamic. From there, he uses his gifts to bring a sense of calm, resolve and hope that could never be reached with any other attorney.


$450 per hour paid at time of service. If the parties choose for the mediator to prepare a settlement agreement, a $2500 deposit is collected to prepare the agreement and all papers required by the court to obtain a divorce. If the mediator prepares the Settlement Agreement, the parties are strongly encouraged to seek independent legal counsel to ensure that all decisions are informed.
