Professional Background

Drawing upon a combination of life, education and career choices with 30 years of experience as a mediator, educator, and psychologist, I offer to those interested the lessons learned and proven strategies developed on how to make a difference in the quality of their life by improving communication while reducing onflict. Today's work world and style of leadership require new courage, curiosity and insight, compassion, concern and commitment in ways never quite experienced.

What I offer are customized services to map out new frameworks for leading people in conflict for stronger performance in all walks of life!

Now, more than ever, showing up with influence requires conviction, collaboration, and a commitment to change.


My negotiation experience started in the early 1980s while working as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor working with employees injured at work, their supervisors and employers, their lawyers, and the Workers Compensation companies. As laws changed and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was enacted in 1990, I quickly learned I needed greater skills to manage meetings with multiple parties.

This led to my first introduction and certification as a Mediator in 1993 and I fell in love with the techniques, strategies, and mindset available to help people move through conflicts, disputes, and differences.

Over the years I've acquired more than 350 hours of mediation and negotiation training, advanced into the role of Mediation Trainer for Mediation Training Institute (MTI), achieved the designation of Advanced Workplace Practitioner through the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR), and now serve on the Employment Mediation Panel for the American Arbitration Association (AAA).

As an educator, I serve on the AAA faculty in advanced mediation techniques, delivering on the practice of mediation and the psychology/neuroscience behind people in conflict.

While trained in Evaluative, Transformative and Facilitative models of mediation, my preferred approach is the Facilitative style of mediation.

I enjoy fostering the dialogue of parties in conflict to help them explore underlying needs, interests, and values that oftentimes help them find what they have in common rather than focusing on where they differ in the dispute.

I find that pricing may vary depending on the complexity of the issues, the number of parties involved, and the anticipated efforts necessary to reach resolution.

A baseline fee structure applies and we build from there.

Other Information

My mediation experience includes 20+ years as a Mentor Mediator for the U.S. Department of Navy, providing mediation and leadership guidance to federal government trainees as they progress in their professional development as mediators.

My qualifications include acceptance as a Panel Member on the American Arbitration Association (AAA) Employment Mediation Panel.

I previously served on various panels, including the California Department of Recreation, the U.S. Forest Service, and the San Diego Superior Court panel.

For five years, I traveled throughout North America training professionals in workplace mediation to transform their roles from legal and human resources as advocates into neutral facilitators.
