The Lodestar Dispute Resolution Center at ASU Law has partnered with Mediate.com to bring you an advanced training in workplace mediation. This does not act as a basic 40 hour training.
Workplace conflict is unlike family, commercial, or community disputes. Organizational dynamics, power imbalances, HR processes, team relationships, and ongoing employment create unique challenges that require specialized mediation skills.
Join internationally recognized workplace mediator and trainer Dr. Clare Fowler for an immersive two-day advanced training designed for experienced mediators, attorneys, HR professionals, ombuds, organizational leaders, and conflict resolution practitioners looking to elevate their workplace mediation practice.
This highly interactive program moves beyond mediation fundamentals and focuses on the practical skills necessary to manage complex organizational disputes, facilitate productive conversations, and help employees and organizations move forward with durable agreements.
Through case studies, demonstrations, facilitated discussion, and practical exercises, participants will learn proven strategies that can immediately be applied in professional practice.

Participants should have completed a basic mediation training (approximately 40 hours) or possess equivalent mediation experience. This is an advanced-level program intended for professionals already familiar with the mediation process.

Dr. Clare Fowler received her Doctorate on designing dispute resolution systems for small businesses from Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education/Organizational Leadership and her Master’s of Dispute Resolution from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at the Pepperdine University School of Law. Dr. Fowler also works as Managing Editor and with Caseload Manager at Mediate.com. She teaches at Pepperdine Dispute Resolution Department and University of Oregon. Clare mediates and trains, focusing on workplace disputes. Dr. Fowler’s dissertation was a phenomenological study of Workplace disputes. Her 2023 book, Rising Above Office Conflict, is a guidebook for HR directors dealing with high conflict behaviors.
Previous Experience: Mediation assistant at the Supreme Court, HI, International Aid Coach in Central America, Protecting the Rights of the Child Project Assistant with the United Nations, Chair of the United Nations Association Young Professionals for International Cooperation. Program Administrator for Career and International Development at the Straus Insitute for Dispute Resolution.
Specialties: My focus is on Workplace Mediation. I specialize in resolving disputes in small- to medium-sized businesses. I am also interested in looking at companies to see what systems they have in place that are continually causing problems, and how to tweak or completely redesign those systems.
