Bart Patton

Bart Patton serves as Assistant Dean of Lifelong Learning, Church Relations, and Alumni Engagement at the SMU Perkins School of Theology. Before coming to Perkins in 2016 as the Director of Youth and Young Adult Education, he served churches as a pastor, youth minister, congregational leader, worship leader, and teacher. His extensive ministry experience spans three states and seven congregational settings, including churches both large and small, located in rural, urban, and suburban communities.

As a consultant, author and curriculum developer for Cokesbury/Abingdon Press, he provides high-quality teaching resources for congregations.

With his passion for local church ministry, Bart was instrumental in revitalizing the Perkins School of Youth Ministry and securing two $1 million grants from the Lilly Endowment, Inc., for congregational youth ministry innovation and thriving congregational practices.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies and Languages from Ouachita Baptist University and a Master of Theological Studies in Practical Theology from SMU Perkins School of Theology.
