Dian Killian

Dian Killian, Ph.D., is a Certified Trainer with the international Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC), a certified executive and life coach, and founder and former director of The Center for Collaborative Communication. She also is co-author of two books, Connecting Across Differences: A Guide to Compassionate, Nonviolent Communication and Urban Empathy: True Life Adventures of Compassion on the Streets of NY.

As President of Work Collaboratively, she and her team shares Collaborative Communication with organizations, groups and individuals. She designs and leads transformative communication trainings in the US, Europe and Asia for diverse organizations including large NGOs, multinationals, non-profits, and Fortune 100 companies. Her clients have included the UN Development Programme, New York University, Merck Inc., HCL Technologies (India), Americorps, the Park Slope Food Coop, and Maryknoll Missionaries, among others.  She also works individually and with teams as a coach.

In addition to her work with organizations, Dian designs and leads retreats for the general public, including the annual NVC East Coast Women’s Retreat, which she founded, as well as programs at the New York Open Center, Kripalu, Life Labs, The Omega Center, and The 92nd St Y. She also is on the faculty of the Coaching for Transformation long-distance learning program.
In addition to her work as a coach and trainer, Dian has published poetry, essays and fiction and performs regularly as a singer-song writer on Appalachian dulcimer.
