Dr. Blanka Illés is an international family lawyer and mediator with 26+ years of experience in complex, multi-jurisdictional family disputes, specialising in cross-border matrimonial property division and high-asset settlements. She graduated cum laude from Eötvös Loránd University (Budapest), founded her own law firm focused on international family and inheritance matters, and since 2020 has expanded her ADR expertise through advanced trainings in negotiation, conflict-resolution and mediation in international, multicultural settings, and also child-inclusive mediation. She has served in senior professional roles across Europe, authored legal publications, lectured internationally, and acted as an expert in court proceedings in the UK and the USA. Named among the Top 100 Lawyers (2016), she has held leadership roles including President of the Pan-European Jurist Union’s Family Law Division (2011), Vice President of the Central European Mediation Institute (2014), and head of litigation at the AdvoAlliance Group (2021).
Based in Berlin, she dedicates her work to international family mediation and high-asset division cases and, since 2024, has led the mediAIte project, developing hybrid models for AI-assisted mediation and exploring how these foundations could support the development of multi-agent systems. She is continuously building a network of independent mediators to advance shared standards and peer R&D in AI adoption, because this new era of mediation requires constant upskilling to keep pace with a fast-changing AI landscape.
