Robert A. Merring was a solo practitioner, arbitrator and mediator in Costa Mesa. In addition to his private practice, he served as an arbitrator and mediator for the American Arbitration Association; an arbitrator, mediator and early neutral evaluator for the Orange County Superior Court; an attorney settlement officer for the United States District Court and a mediator for the United States Bankruptcy Court.
