Jim Williams

The Honorable Jim Williams retired from the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia in 2024 after more than 38 years on the Bench. He has spent his career in Family Law Dispute Resolution, as a lawyer, a Judge and educator - having taught terms at law schools in Nova Scotia, Alberta, Hong Kong, Australia and the U.K., lectured around the world and chaired or co-chaired more than 30 national Family Law Programs for the Federation of Law Societies and National Judicial Institute in Canada. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree by Dalhousie University in 2015. He continues to be active in Family Law Dispute Resolution teaching at Dalhousie Law School, lecturing at CLE and Judicial Education Programs and doing private mediation and dispute resolution.
