The Healing and Justice Center is a community-based public safety program in Miami focused on reducing violence, improving mental health outcomes, and diverting people from the criminal legal system. Our unique model brings together survivors, artists, healers, healthcare providers, and legal professionals to help the survivors of violence heal from trauma, while also addressing and fighting the societal conditions that cause that trauma in the first place.

The Healing and Justice Center is a partnership between Dream Defenders, the Circle of Brotherhood, Dade County Street Response and Touching Miami with Love. Our services include: a mobile crisis unit, a trauma recovery center, conflict mediation, youth programming and violence intervention.

Clinical Director

Dream Defenders are hiring for a Clinical Director of the Healing and Justice Center, an exciting opportunity to move forward this vital mission. We are seeking a skilled clinician, supervisor, and administrator with extensive experience in youth and family therapy. The Clinical Director is responsible for providing clinical leadership and policy direction for the Healing & Justice Center, maintaining all accepted standards of medical practice throughout the facility; and supervising our talented staff. What is unique is that this badly-needed care is offered within a values based framework that is trauma-focused, culturally-affirming, and healing-engaged, rooted in justice-based liberatory practice, and structural and systems change vision.

 This position will lead our trauma recovery center (TRC) and mobile crisis unit. Based on nationally recognized best practice models, our TRC provides free counseling and case management to help survivors of violent crime access vitally needed mental health treatment, health care, and legal resources in the acute aftermath of trauma. Our mobile crisis unit responds to mental health, substance abuse and homeless-related crises, aiming to support de-escalation and connection to long term services and avoid forced institutionalization. 

JOB DUTIES:

Clinical Leadership:

• Provide clinical leadership and guidance to TRC clinicians and support staff as they provide victims of crimes with trauma therapy and assistance with any other immediate needs such as shelter and victim-related support
• Develop and implement evidence-based trauma treatment programs and protocols
• Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in trauma recovery and mobile crisis response

Program Development and Evaluation:

• Manage clinical project and site activities, including timelines, budgets, resources, and program coordination 
• Develop strategic initiatives and oversee process improvements to ensure comprehensive wraparound services across HJC programs 
• Establish key performance indicators aligned with program objectives 
• Develop and update clinical policies, procedures, and treatment protocols
• Implement program enhancements and improvements as needed. Troubleshoot clinical, administrative, and personnel issues

Staff Management:

• Recruit, train, and evaluate clinical staff and interns 
• Supervise the Clinical Team, assigning responsibilities and identifying training needs for excellent performance 
• Foster a positive and collaborative team environment
• Ensure staff members adhere to ethical and professional standards
• Attend regular administrative, staff, and stakeholder meetings

Client Care:

• Assess and monitor the progress of clients receiving trauma recovery services
• Collaborate with clinical staff to create individualized treatment plans
• Ensure clients receive high-quality, culturally sensitive care
• Provide therapy as needed 

Community Engagement:

• Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations, healthcare providers, and agencies to support trauma recovery efforts
• Deliver presentations and workshops to community partners, elected officials and other stakeholders 

Budget Management:

• Manage the budget for the clinical department, including grant funding and resources
• Ensure efficient use of resources and adherence to financial guidelines
• Ensure contractual goals and funding requirements are met

Data and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of client progress and outcomes
• Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders, including funders and regulatory agencies

Quality Assurance:

• Implement quality assurance measures to monitor and improve the effectiveness of trauma recovery programs
• Ensuring oversight in the areas of: licensing regulations, legal and ethical regulations, clinical supervision, crisis response and quality assurance

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Registered Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-R) or Licensed Clinical Psychologist. Out of State candidates have 2 years to acquire their Florida license 
• A minimum of three (3) years of administrative management and clinical supervisory experience at an outpatient clinic
• Extensive clinical experience working with youth, families, and substance users. 
• Extensive clinical experience working in the Black community and knowledge of culturally-specific and culturally competent practices
• Experience working with trauma survivors from underserved populations, including marginalized communities such as young people of color, individuals experiencing homelessness, chronic mental illness, immigrant and refugee groups, and LGBTQ individuals.
• Previous experience in case management, outreach, and home visits
• Collaborative and team oriented
• Demonstrates strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills 
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks and meticulous attention to detail 
• Computer literacy required
• Willing to travel 
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Deep commitment to justice-based liberatory practice, trauma informed care, and systemic change

SALARY: The salary for this position will be in the range of 80,000 to 90,000 with an extremely competitive benefits package and generous personnel policies, including medical, dental and vision coverage, retirement packages, unlimited paid time off and professional development resources.

The Healing and Justice Center is a community-based public safety program working to stop violence, increase access to mental health services and divert people from the criminal legal system. 

This role is designed to help survivors of violent crime overcome barriers to accessing mental health treatment, health care and other resources in the acute aftermath of trauma. We serve recent survivors of violent crime by supporting both their material and mental health needs, including survivors of physical assault, sexual assault, gun shot wounds, stabbings, domestic violence and human trafficking.
