Mediate.com CEO Colin Rule, Vice-President Clare Fowler and Innovation Director Ron Dolin represented Mediate.com and ODR.com at this years ABA Dispute Resolution Section Conference in Las Vegas May 10-12.
Plainly, the issue of the day in both dispute resolution and legal practice is “Artificial Intelligence” or “AI”. Mediate.com has just completed our hosting of a two-day “Mediation and AI Conference.” (See www.MediateUniversity.com for recordings and resources.)
At Mediate, we prefer to think of the new AI software capacities as “Augmented” (rather than Artificial) Intelligence. Critical, for purposes of mediation, is that AI, whatever we call it, will help to affordably and efficiently empower participants with valuable information. Mediation participants retain full decision-making control in mediation at all times, whether AI is used or not.
In addition to hosting our two-day Mediation and AI Conference in April 2023 (complete conference recordings and resources are now available), Mediate.com CEO Colin Rule also recently hosted his “ODR Master Class.” These Master Class recordings and resources are also now available!
Following on the heels of the Pandemic, nearly 3/4 of dispute resolution work is still being done online! Mediate.com has taken the lead, now for nearly 30 years, assisting mediators to most capably utilize the Internet and we are thrilled to now uniquely offer secure meeting rooms as part of your Premium or Featured Membership!
Still Further, Colin Rule has been announced as the 2023 Recipient of the D’Alemberte/Raven Award from the American Bar Association Dispute Resolution Section. Colin was recognized at the May 11th Award Ceremony at the 25th annual ABA DR Spring Conference in Las Vegas.
This D’Alemberte Raven Award award honors Talbot D’Alemberte and Robert D. Raven, who each held the unique position of being both ABA Presidents and Chairs of either the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution or its predecessor ABA Special Committee.
Resourceful Internet Solutions, Inc., and Mediate.com were founded in 1995 by John Helie and Jim Melamed. Jim Melamed served as CEO of Mediate.com for 25 years until Colin succeeded Jim as CEO in June 2020. See: “Online Dispute Resolution Pioneer Colin Rule Named Mediate.com CEO.”
Colin Rule returned to Mediate.com where he served as the company’s first General Manager in 1999. Rule spun off his first ODR company, OnlineResolution.com, out of Mediate.com in 2000, creating one of the world’s first ODR providers. In 2003, Colin became the first director of ODR for eBay and PayPal. In 2011, Colin co-founded Modria.com, where he was CEO and COO. Tyler Technologies acquired Modria in 2017, and Rule then became Tyler’s first vice president of Online Dispute Resolution (ODR). Colin now serves as CEO of both Mediate.com and ODR.com.
We look forward to seeing you in Las Vegas (and online)!
