Qatar, Egypt, and the United States successfully mediate Gaza agreement

Doha, Qatar – Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al Thani, Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs has announced the success of joint mediation efforts by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States. The collaboration has resulted in an agreement between the conflicting parties in Gaza for the exchange of prisoners and hostages. This agreement aims to restore sustainable calm and pave the way toward a permanent ceasefire. The mediation underscores the commitment of all parties involved to regional stability and peace.

The first phase of an agreement on Gaza outlines several measures aimed at addressing urgent humanitarian needs and fostering reconciliation in the region. It will come into effect on January 19, 2025.

The agreement also includes:

  • Exchange of Prisoners and Hostages: A carefully structured mechanism will facilitate the release and return of individuals detained or held captive.
  • Exchange of Remains: The remains of deceased individuals will be exchanged, enabling families to bury their loved ones with dignity.
  • Return of the Displaced: Efforts will be made to ensure the safe return of displaced individuals to their homes.
  • Medical Support: The agreement prioritizes the evacuation of sick and wounded individuals, allowing them to receive treatment outside the conflict zone.
  • Humanitarian Aid: The entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza will be intensified to address critical shortages and provide relief to affected communities.
