Barbara Brown is a private mediator in Los Angeles with her own firm, Brown Mediation, focusing on business, commercial, real estate, and employment matters. Since 2006 she has been devoting full time to her mediation practice.
During her 28 years as a litigator she represented both plaintiffs and defendants. She had her own firm, The Brown Law Firm, for over 10 years. Before that she spent five years as Senior Counsel at First Interstate Bank and 12 years in private practice. She is a graduate of UCLA School of Law (JD, 1978), Michigan State University (MA, 1970), and Ohio Wesleyan University (BA, 1966).
Barbara was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Thailand (1966 - 1968) where she taught English as a Second Language. She spent eight more years teaching before going to law school. She was a member of the Planning Commission for the City of Santa Monica from 2000 to 2007 and served as chair in 2004 - 2005. She has also served on the Advisory Board of Sojourn, a shelter for battered women and children (1996 - 2004).
